“Critical issues” for Asia-Pacific M&A and “pathways to market growth” will be the “focus of the 9th annual IFLR Asia M&A Forum 2014 on February 25 & 26, 2014 at Island Shangri-La Hong Kong. The Inter-Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) and [the] International Financial Law Review [(IFLR)] are co-hosting the event”, according to an email announcement from the IPBA.
As the IPBA outlined: “This event brings together leading corporate counsel, bankers counsel and private practice lawyers from global banks, asset managers, international law firms and governmental administrations”. Event speakers include senior Asia-Pacific -focused M&A professionals from the Carlyle Group, Nomura, HSBC, Houlihan Lokey Asia, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and many others.
The event comes at a time of increased Asia-Pacific M&A dealmaking activity, including:
- Chinese outbound foreign direct investment continues to increase.
- Outbound foreign direct investment from Japan and other Asia-Pacific economies is also at record levels, focused not only energy and other sectors in Europe, America, Africa and Latin America – but also on intra-Asian deals.
- The region has also been a key conduit for significant growth in international middle-market boutique investment banking deal-making.
This activity provides lawyers both within and outside the region with significant new opportunity to participate in these exciting new M&A trends.
As the IPBA detailed: “In-house counsel are invited to attend for free while private practice lawyers can enjoy a special IPBA discount. For more information, please visit event page at: www.iflr.com/ama14 or contact Emerald Mou at emerald.mou@euromoneyasia.com“
